Peter Mulholland – Teacher / Director

Peter first came to yoga in 1983 to complement and help with his Martial Arts and Surfing. It was the powerful effect the asana’s (postures) had upon him therapeutically, to relieve these injuries that drew him to yoga. Having studied philosophy at Deakin University the study of yoga was a natural course. In 1985 Peter studied Yoga in India and gained Teaching qualifations at the Vivekanendra Yoga Kendra in Bangalore, India.

It was at that time he met Shandor Remete, a Senior Iyengar teacher who is respected worldwide. And began classes with him. In 1991 I completed a 3-year yoga teacher’s apprenticeship with Shandor. I worked very closely with Shandor and was shown how to use the yoga therapeutically for a diverse range of injuries.

Peter moved to the Central Coast in 1991 and established The Central Coast School of Yoga in the same year. Shandor and Peter maintain a Teacher / Student relationship as well as a great mateship.

Cathryn Leacey- Teacher

Cathryn began yoga in 1996 to aid a recovery of neck and shoulder injury and for ongoing care for I.C.E. glaucoma. The injury healed, discomfort of Glaucoma reduced and has become manageable. With the discovery of so many other benefits from yoga, she began and completed a 3 year Teachers Apprenticeship with Peter Mulholland.

Cathryn is committed to helping others experience the personal transformation yoga can bring. "I love the way the practice of yoga brings nature to the forefront."

Tracey Wheatland - Teacher

In 1977 I attended my first yoga class at a local gym. Being a curious teenager I was simply looking to maintain a level of physical fitness and flexibility. Throughout the 27 years that followed, my experience of yoga changed quite drastically.

Whilst bringing up 3 wonderful children mainly as a sole parent and working several jobs, life became quite demanding with little time for anything else. My regular yoga class became a grounding point in the week. If I had to miss a class I really felt it.

The physical benefits of yoga had always been obvious especially through pregnancy, childbirth and post natally, yet I started to recognise the effect yoga has on the mind simply in the way I felt before a practice, during and after. Yoga has a way of sorting you out, bringing you into the present moment, quietening the mind and generating a deeper sense of clarity and awareness.

During the last 8 years I have been attending Peter Mulhollands classes at the Central Coast School of Yoga recently completing a 3 year full time teachers training. This has deepened my understanding considerably especially in adapting yoga to meet individual requirements such as pregnancy, injuries and certain physical or mental conditions. In a world that, for all its beauty can be quite overwhelming I have a deepening commitment to helping others achieve a sense of strength and peace within themselves.
